Transasia Bio-Medicals Ltd., India’s Leading In-vitro Diagnostic Company, today announced that it has won a large order for Sysmex 3 Part Differential Hematology analyzers along with hematology reagents from the Tamil Nadu Medical Service Corporation Ltd. (TNMSC). The commercial details of the bid were not revealed.

Transasia has already completed the delivery of the instruments within the stipulated duration. As part of the agreement, Transasia will also deliver after sales and application support along with the necessary training, whenever required.

This Sysmex 3 Part Differential Hematology analyzer comes with a unique parameter P-LCR (platelet large cell ratio). It helps in the accurate reporting of platelet counts, which plays a crucial role in monitoring dengue cases, among other diseases such as thrombocytopenia and idiopathic thrombocytopenia. Till date, Transasia has installed more than 24,000 Sysmex 3 Part Differential Hematology analyzers across the country.

Of late, Tamil Nadu has been battling the dengue menace. Incessant rains have led to a spurt in the number of dengue cases reported. Up to October 2017, more than 10,000 cases have been reported across the state. Public health officials have identified clusters in Palani, Pollachi, Bhavani, Manapparai and Hosur where the incidence of the disease is high or prevalent over a prolonged period of time. In addition, hospitals in 10 districts, including Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Coimbatore and Salem, have been put on alert.

The Government has acted swiftly in order to contain the rapid spread of the mosquito-borne infection. In addition to conducting sanitation drives and awareness campaigns, the health officials in the state are also focusing on early detection and monitoring. The aim is to particularly reach out to the remote areas that lack access to primary healthcare facilities for early diagnosis. 

This initiative by TNMSC is in line with the recently released National Health Policy 2017. Under this policy, the Government has announced ‘Free Diagnostics Service Initiative’ for providing a minimum set of diagnostics to the underserved people in India.  The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme under the National Health Mission aims at providing universal access to equitable, affordable and quality healthcare services for prevention and control of vector borne diseases such as dengue.
